Emily Dickinson Is Fed Up

The title of this section was inspired by one of my favorite Thurber cartoons. The caption reads: "She has that Emily Dickinson spirit except that she gets fed up occasionally."  I always felt there was a story behind that particular cartoon and wish James Thurber had decided to tell it. Then again, maybe the visual/verbal shorthand is why this is funny. The mental image of "Emily" turning and giving Miss Gossipy Bob-Cut a Miss Piggyish whack on the back of her head with a handful of flowers while screaming, "Hyah!" might be enough.

I have to admit to considering myself an Emily Dickinson type.  I 'd rather be at home. I like quiet and relish solitude, they are like air and water to me. Yes, the Emily Dickinsons of the world do get fed up from time to time. In truth, we are more often than not delighted by life. As exasperating as humanity can be, there are often the myriad instances where people are also funny, inspiring, heartbreaking, and just plain fascinating.

This section is where I'll put my stories. Some of them are true, some of them are not. This is also where my thoughts about matters will go. Hey, if I have to suffer them rattling around in my head, you have to suffer, too! Or something like that.
